Strong alumni flavor among 2014 honorary degree recipients at 145th Commencement
Three highly esteemed alumni and leaders in the deaf community have been selected by the Board of Trustees as recipients of honorary degrees at Gallaudet's 145th Commencement exercises. On Friday, May 16, 2014, the University will award degrees to Philip W. Bravin, '66, Father Thomas J. Coughlin, '72, and President Emeritus I. King Jordan, '70, in recognition of their outstanding service.
GUAA is seeking 2014 alumni award nominations
Names of outstanding individuals are needed for GUAA and Laurent Clerc Cultural Fund awards. The annual Charter Day program where winners are recognized for their contributions to the deaf community typically held in April will be held during the Gallaudet Reunion in July 2014. Note: The new deadline for nominations is Wednesday, January 15, 2014.
Connecticut Chapter of the GUAA to celebrate 100 years
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Connecticut Chapter of the GUAA, the chapter is hosting brunch on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the ASD-Gallaudet Clerc Education Center in West Hartford, CT. The deadline to purchase tickets which are $30 per person is Friday, November 22, 2013. Both President Hurwitz and Executive Director of Alumni Relations and GUAA Sam Sonnenstrahl, '79 & G-'84 are the guests of honor at this special event.
Tour France and learn more about pioneers in Deaf Education through GUAA and Hands On Travel
The revival of the GUAA Tours in collaboration with Hands On Travel (HOT) has been met with lots of interest. The Deaf Heritage tour of France will allow us to learn more about pioneers of deaf education— Laurent Clerc, Abbe de l'Epee, Abbe Sicard, Jean Massieu, and more. Charity Reedy, '89 & G-'97 selected as Chief Enrollment Marketing Officer
Charity Reedy has served as interim Chief Enrollment Marketing Officer (CEMO) since July of 2011, providing leadership for undergraduate enrollment and financial aid, leading the establishment of an enrollment council and the development of a University-wide enrollment plan, and overseeing the Office of Admissions, the Office of Financial Aid, the Visitors Center, and Youth and Outreach Programs.
Gallaudet Reunion Call for Papers
You are invited to share your expertise, research, and insights with colleagues and friends at the Gallaudet Reunion, July 9 - 13, 2014. Concurrent workshops, each lasting 50 minutes, will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014.
Photographer Needed for Gallaudet Reunion
The Gallaudet Reunion committee is seeking a photographer for the Gallaudet Reunion to handle panroamic pictures of the class group photo. This is one of the events being planned during the celebration.
TEDxGallaudet Call for Proposals
Gallaudet University is proud to host its very first TEDxGallaudet! The event will take place on Friday, February 28, 2014, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Gallaudet University. Alumni are invited to be part of it.
