Frances M. Parsons, Retired Art History Professor Passes Away
Frances M. "Peggie" Parsons, E-'48 & '67, who taught art history at Gallaudet and was a prfilic author and lecturer on issues involving the deaf community, passed away on Wednesday, December 18 at the age of 90.
Gallaudet University to retire Ronda Jo Miller '01 and Kevin Milligan '67 basketball jerseys on Feb. 8, 2014
Gallaudet University will retire two basketball jerseys on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, in between a Bison men's and women's basketball doubleheader at the Field House during the annual alumni basketball madness. Former Bison greats Ronda Jo Miller, '01, and Kevin Milligan, '67, will have their former basketball jerseys, numbers 23 and 24, respectively, retired as those numbers will no longer be used by future Bison basketball players. These are the first-ever retired numbers in GU athletics history.
Gallaudet football continues to receive media recognition after first-ever playoff appearance
The Gallaudet University football team's historical season came to end after its loss to No. 7 ranked Hobart College in the first round of NCAA Division III football playoffs on Nov. 23. The Bison continued to receive local and national media coverage leading up to the game and post game as well.

Dr. Lynne E. Murray to become president of Baker University in Kansas
Lynne E. Murray, PhD '06, vice president of development, alumni and international relations has been appointed president of Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas, a small college with 900 students. She is set to begin her term there in July.
Gallaudet Museum to have permanent exhibit in Chapel Hall with new exhibit
"Gallaudet at 150 and Beyond", the newest exhibit of the Gallaudet Museum, situated in historic Chapel Hall, is slated to be unveiled on April 8, 2014. The exhibit is expected to become the focal point in sharing Gallaudet's rich history over 150 years.
Symposium: Celebrating 150 Years of Visionary Leadership
On April 9 and 10, 2014, Gallaudet University will host a 2-day symposium, titled Celebrating 150 Years of Visionary Leadership in Washington, D.C. This gathering of scholars marks the 150th anniversary of access to higher education for deaf students. The $150 early bird registration closes on January 1, 2014. After this, regular registration is $200. Note: This is one of many events being held throughout the year honoring Gallaudet's 150th anniversary.
