Alumni Relations and GUAA to be at Deaf Seniors of America Conference in Houston, TX
Gallaudet plans to have a booth at the Deaf Seniors of America conference in Houston, TX. The Office of Alumni Relations and Gallaudet University Alumni Association (GUAA) will be representing Gallaudet. Gallaudet will also be hosting a breakfast on Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m.
Names of Alumni Who Passed Away in 2016 Listed
The Office of Alumni Relations lists the Gallaudet alumni who passed away last year. A total of 102 Gallaudet alumni who are known to have passed away during 2016 are listed alphabetically with full name, class year, and date of death. The Office of Alumni Relations is proud of the lifetime accomplishments of each of our alumni and wishes to honor the memory of those who left us in 2016.
Passing of Donald O. Peterson, G-'53
Donald O. Peterson, a retired chemistry professor who taught at Gallaudet for 44 years, passed away on February 23, 2017. In a note to the campus community from Provost Carol Erting, she outlines Mr. Peterson's accomplishments during his career. A memorial service has been planned for Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church for the Deaf (at Calvary Lutheran Church), 9545 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring MD 20910. There will be light refreshments after the service.
National Academic Bowl competition to be held at Gallaudet in April
The 2017 National Academic Bowl competition which will have 20 teams from all over the nation, will be held at Gallaudet, April 1–4, 2017
These teams have competed in all four regional academic bowls (East, South, Middle, and West) and the top teams will be participating in the competition. The competition is open to anyone who would like to attend and the full schedule is included in this link.
Minnesota Chapter of the GUAA to have event in April
Terrence (Terry) Wilding, '91, Superintendent of Minnesota State Academy of the Deaf, is the guest speaker at Minnesota Chapter of the Gallaudet University Alumni Association (GUAA)'s event on Saturday, April 29, 2017. The event will be held at International House of Pancakes (IHOP), in Burnsville, Minn at 10 a.m. Alumni and friends are welcome to attend. See the flyer for more information.
