Gallaudet's President Cordano Dispels the Myths of Language Acquisition
Through his tremendous success on the runway and participation in Dancing With the Stars, Nyle DiMarco, '13, follows in the footsteps of numerous Gallaudet University alumni who have shown that deaf people can achieve any dream. President Cordano wholly endorses his commitment to guaranteeing full access to language.
Spaces Still Available on GUAA Tours for New England and Pacific Northwest
The Gallaudet University Alumni Association (GUAA) has partnered with Hands On Travel (HOT) to create tours for alumni and non-alumni. The two tours will take place in New England in October 2016 and the Pacific Northwest in June 2017. There are spaces available on both tours.
Merv and Carol Garretson Scholarship Fund Close to Reaching Endowment Status
The St. Augustine Chapter of GUAA, Southeastern Florida Chapter of GUAA, and Central Florida Chapter of GUAA, and Gallaudet University signed an agreement on April 1, 2012, to create a scholarship fund to honor both Mervin D., '47, and Carol J., G-'68, Garretson. To date $16,0000 has been raised. In order to make it fully endowed, a minimum of $25,000 needs to be raised by April 1, 2017. The chapters are asking for help in reaching the goal.
Alumnae Dawn Jani Birley earns top acting honor in Sweden
Dawn Jani Birley, '99, became the first deaf person to receive the Riksteatern's Artist of the Year, a prestigious acting award in Sweden, for her performance in the leading role of When Winter Stars Shine Here.
