Gallaudet Golf Open a continuing success
Golfers at the third Gallaudet Golf Open, held May 17, played for a great cause, raising funds for student scholarships, and had a lot of fun in the process.

Gallaudet to be well represented at NAD conference
The Office of Alumni Relations has been assisting the University in its efforts as a Liberty Sponsor at the 50th Biennial National Association of the Deaf conference, July 7-11 in Philadelphia, Pa.

President Hurwitz inaugurated
Dr. T. Alan Hurwitz accepted the presidency of Gallaudet at a jubilant Inauguration ceremony, pledging to lead the University toward achieving "a natural balance" between its past and future.

A team effort to 'broaden and reform' health care
A Task Force on Health Care Careers for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community, made up of representatives from Gallaudet and three other institutions, was announced by Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) at a May 19 press conference.

WORLDEAF Ciinema Festival 2010
Gallaudet will host the WORLDEAF Cinema Festival 2010, November 3-7. Film and vlog submissions are invited. (The deadline is August 1.) Early bird registration for the festival is now available. For more information, contact wdcf@gallaudet.edu.

Jason Ammons, '47, father of three alumni, passes away
Jason Ammons, the father of Donalda, Paula, and Sandra Ammons, passed away on Tuesday, May 18. A memorial service is set for Saturday, August 14 in Riverside, Calif.

Artist and writer Louise Stern was profiled in the United Kingdom's "Guardian" newspaper on Sunday, May 30.

Ritz named to CoSIDA Cross Country and Track and Field Academic All-District second team
Gallaudet women’s cross country runner Rose Ritz was selected to the 2009-10 "ESPN The Magazine" Academic All-District second team for the College Division–District 2, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
