Charter Day features laughter, wisdom, and amazing people
The 44th annual Charter Day Brunch and Awards Program was filled with laughter and words of wisdom, along with participation by amazing people from all walks of life. The April 6 program was particularly special because it was deaf-centric in every aspect--from the caterer to the photographer to the individuals who made the decorations and centerpieces. It was a wonderful way to celebrate and to witness the deaf community's many talents and skills.
Information on the Gallaudet Reunion (150th Anniversary in July 2014) to be released in August
Plans for the Gallaudet Reunion celebrating the university's 150th anniversary and GUAA's 125th anniversary in July 2014 are underway. The schedule and registration information are expected to be released in August.
Highlights from the Board of Trustees meeting during Commencement
The Board of Trustees had a full agenda and productive meeting when they were here during Commencement. Some of the highlights are approving the new doctor of philosophy degree program in educational neuroscience, slated to begin this fall and requiring freshmen and sophomores to live on campus, effective as of the fall 2014 semester.
Names of alumni who have passed away since January 1, 2013
A total of 52 Gallaudet alumni who are known to have passed away from January 1 until June 30, 2013 are listed alphabetically with full name, class year, and date of death. The Office of Alumni Relations is proud of the lifetime accomplishments of each of our alumni and wishes to honor the memory of those who have left us recently.

ASL Programs Coordinator Kim Pudans-Smith, '92, was a guest on the Fox 5 (D.C.) morning show recently where she answered questions about handedness in sign language.
Former Gallaudet women's volleyball coach Peg Worthington named to AVCA Hall of Fame
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its 2013 Hall of Fame class and former Gallaudet University women's volleyball coach Margaret "Peg" Worthington was selected along with three others. The quartet will be honored at the 2013 Jostens Coaches Honors Luncheon at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, in conjunction with the 2013 AVCA Convention.
Provost Search Committee formed
A committee has been formed, headed by Edward Bosso, vice president, Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center, and Teresa Blankmeyer Burke, assistant professor, History, Philosophy, Religion, and Sociology, to conduct a nationwide search for a new provost.
Call for honorary degree nominations for Commencement 2015
Gallaudet University is currently collecting honorary degree nominations to be awarded at its 146th Commencement in May 2015.
Recipes needed for first ever multicultral cookbook
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) is pleased to announce it is beginning to accept entries for its first multiculturalcookbook. The Gallaudet ODI cookbook will feature recipes from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds (e.g., kebabs, empanadas, roti).
