The Office of Alumni Relations/Gallaudet University will be present at the 9th Biennial Deaf Seniors of America (DSA) Conference from April 9 - 15 at Renaissance Orlando Resort in Orlando, Fla.
The booth schedule is as follows: April 11 from noon - 5 p.m.; April 12 -13 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and April 14 from 8 a.m. - noon. Sam Sonnenstrahl, '79 & G-'84, director of alumni relations and executive director of Gallaudet University Alumni Association (GUAA), and Daphne Cox, '82, associate director of alumni relations, will be thrilled to see, talk, and/or answer your questions at the Gallaudet booth. Also, there will be some GUAA board members who have already committed to attend the DSA Conference, and they would love to have conversations with alumni.
In addition, the Gallaudet University Web Video Library booth will be oprn during the same hours. Deaf leaders, scholars, alumni, community advocates, and/or storytellers are needed to share experiences for the video library project. A total of 120 segments of "Deaf Mosaic," from 1985-1995 are now on its website. You are strongly encouraged to go online at videolibrary.gallaudet.edu, and register for a free account to see the "Deaf Mosaic" segments, archival films, campus presentations, and interviews with notable deaf individuals.
There will be numerous Gallaudet alumni classes hosting informal reunions during their free time at the DSA Conference. Daphne has already emailed class presidents/contact persons from 35 classes beginning from 1945 to 1979 inquiring about their possbile class reunion activities.
