Research Opportunity for Deaf Latino Individuals
Ph.D. Research Study Conducted by

Who: Deaf Latinos: Having parents of Latino background/origin,
Who were the first generation in their family to attend college during the years 2001-2008,
Have a severe to profound hearing loss,
Are willing to participate in a research study related to their literacy experiences while in college.
What: Ph.D. Dissertation Research study entitled, "An Examination of the Literacy
Experiences of First Generation Deaf Latino College Students." Participants who were
the first person in their family that:
1.. attended a college, but did not graduate; or
2. attended college and graduated,
are needed to share their literacy experiences while attending college.
Why: To improve the education for other Deaf Latino in the future by sharing your literacy experiences while attending college. This information will be used to help improve curriculum, teaching, and support services in colleges and universities that have Deaf Latino college students in the future.
Participation in this research study will involve three hours of your time. Participation will involve being interviewed about your experiences in college. This can be done through VP or in person. All identities of participants will remain confidential.
You will be compensated $20.00 per hour for your participation.
This research study has been approved by the IRB at Capella University.
