Our fellow and loyal Alumni,
The GUAA Board of Directors had its spring meeting on April 15-16, 2010. They had an opportunity to meet with various university administrators including President Alan Hurwitz and Provost Stephen Weiner, Class of 1977. One of the critical topics included in the agenda was the university's financial health.. While the board is pleased with the direction the university is heading into, the board strongly believes the university needs our help more than ever.
The board of directors decided unanimously, and is taking leadership in increasing the rate of alumni giving to the university. It is called "Bison 5 Booster Challenge." The goal is to increase the number of alumni giving to the university by the end of the fiscal year which ends September 30.
This project is simple and straight-forward: get as many alumni in your area to sign up, and/or spread the word to your friends who are alumni, and give at least five dollars to Gallaudet.
You may collect names and money and send this along with the form to the home office. If you live in an area where you are the only alumni or prefer to send in the form yourself, you may do so.
In October, there will be announcement as to which Chapter raised the most money.
West Region Board Member Linda Hatrak, '74, and Board Member-At-Large Ramesh Phadke, '81, are co-chairs of the Bison 5 Booster Challenge. To find out more about this exciting project, please see the video on Bison 5 Booster Challenge Video.
The cover letter and form are attached.
Please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or need information.
All donations are tax deductible, and will also be counted as class giving participation rate so you also have another opportunity to increase your class giving participation!
As always, the board appreciates your continued support for the GUAA and the university!
Sam Sonnenstrahl, '79 & G-'84
