Dear Campus Community,
It is my great pleasure to announce the appointment of Duane Halliburton, a member of Gallaudet’s Class of 1985, as a new member of our Board of Trustees. His appointment becomes effective at the board’s October 13 to 15 meeting on campus. He will attend orientation prior to the meeting.
Since 1985, Mr. Halliburton has served as network engineer manager for the Defense Information Systems Agency, a division of the Department of Defense. A licensed financial agent with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Halliburton is also senior marketing director for Allianz/National Life Group/ING, where he is an independent distribution agent responsible for guiding clients’ insurance and retirement plans while also helping them acquire and manage wealth. In addition, he is the co-founder of Thompson and Halliburton, LLC, a commercial and residential property management firm whose accomplishments include providing subsidized housing for Hurricane Katrina victims.
Mr. Halliburton is a board member of Deafinite Possibilities Foundation, which provides charitable outreach programs to underserved deaf and hard of hearing people in the United States and around the world. He was a board member of National Black Deaf Advocates from 2004 to 2007, where he held the position of treasurer, and he is active in a number of organizations serving deaf and hard of hearing adults and families.
A resident of Glenn Dale, Md., Mr. Halliburton is married to Alisa Halliburton. They have four children.
On behalf of the board, I extend my sincere appreciation to Mr. Halliburton for accepting the offer to serve as a trustee, and look forward to his service. Please join me in welcoming our newest trustee.
