The Gallaudet University Alumni Association (GUAA) has begun the election process for the 2012-2016 term. As a part of the process, the GUAA Board has selected the Valley of the Sun (Phoenix) Chapter to be the Election Committee.
Nomination forms will be sent out around the end of September to all GUAA Active Lifetime Members only, so keep an eye out for the packet in the mail and begin thinking about who you would like to nominate for a position-or if you would like to run for a position on the GUAA Board.
The Screening Committee, with members also nominated by the GUAA Board, will be meeting in late April to screen through all the nominations and narrow down the candidates for the final ballots.
The Valley of the Sun (Phoenix, Ariz.) GUAA Chapter is pleased to announce Julian "Buddy" Singleton, AAS '58, as the chair with Richard Bonheyo, '58, Dick Leon, '74, Nancy Sergeant, '72, and Bernice Singleton, E-'59 serving on the 2012 GUAA Election Committee. The committee is responsible for overseeing the 18-month election process and tallying ballots.
In addition, members of the Election Screening Committee are as follows: East Region–Aurora Solomon, '68 (Fla.), and Wade Terry, '75 (Conn.); Middle Region–Allen Graham, '74 (Miss.), and Mark Myers, '80 (Tex.), West Region–Richard Jacobs, '91 (Wash.), and Darlene Wadler, '95 & G-'97, (Calif.); and Home Region–Zelephiene Meadows, '79 & G-'94 (Md.), and Agnes Padden, '47 (Md.). The committee will meet in April to discuss and select the top two nominees for each board position. Ballots will be mailed to GUAA Active Lifetime members in June. The announcement of new board members will be made in August.
The Alumni Relations Staff is looking forward to working with both the Election Committee and Screening Committee and to hearing from many of you as we go through this process.
