Gallaudet Clubs at 2006 Regional Academic Bowls

Popular Gallaudet Club events were held at all five regional Academic Bowls. Gallaudet Club is an "event", not to be misunderstood as being an organization. Gallaudet Club is open for alumni and friends. Mainly, it gives alumni an opportunity to get together and catch up with what is happening at Gallaudet.

The Gallaudet Club events were held at:

Note: GUAA Vice President Alyce Slater Lentz, ’76 & G-’78, and GUAA Home Region Board Member Michael Kaika, ’71, spoke at the Santa Fe and Staunton events respectively. Daphne Cox, ’82, represented the Alumni Relations Office at the Staunton event.

The results of the Academic Bowl regional competitions were:

Southeast/At Large:

1st Place – Edmonds-Woodway High School (WA)
2nd Place – Florida School for the Deaf


1st Place – John Hersey High School (IL)
2nd Place – Indiana School for the Deaf


1st Place – Colorado School for the Deaf
2nd Place – University High School (CA)


1st Place – Rochester School for the Deaf (NY)
2nd Place – Monroe #1 BOCES (NY)

Mid-Atlantic/At Large:

1st Place – Mountain Lakes High School (NJ)
2nd Place – W.T. Woodson High School (VA)

The ten teams competed against each other in the 10th Annual Gallaudet University National Academic Bowl Competition at Gallaudet University on April 22-25, 2006.

The 2006 National Academic Bowl Competition final results were:

Champions: Mountain Lake High School (NJ)
2nd place: John Hersey High School (PA)
3rd place:Monroe High School (NY) #1 BOECES
4th place: Indiana School for the Deaf (IN)


Sportsmanship - Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind
Outstanding Player - David Uzzell , John Hersey High School
